Panda shook off her paws on a dry clump of land. Why do we live here again? She thought. But then the swish of prey in hiding caught her attention. She turned towards the sound, pinpointing where the shrew was. Very carefully, as quiet as she could be with her paws sinking into mud with every step, Panda came towards the shrew. Then she flung herself at it, but one of her hind paws stayed stuck in the mud, and instead of soaring over the muck and onto the shrew she landed face first in a smelly mess of decayed plant life and wet dirt.
She snorted to get mud out of her nose, then pulled herself to her paws. "Damn mud, damn territory, damn MoonPack." She muttered darkly. Still angry at being made a fool of, even though no one had been around, Pandora padded to a small hill where the ground was dry.
"I'm going to stay here forever and there's nothing they can do about it!" She said outloud to herself. Just saying it made her feel triumphant. Som of the other pups had said she was weird because she didn't like playing. "Oh, I'll show them playing!" She growled. Imagining they were right in front of her she leaped at them, jaw snapping at imaginary heels. Her claws raked imaginary necks. "Stupid pups."
Pandora slowly calmed down, and the practice fighting had made her feel better too. She decided to try hunting again, hoping for better results this time. She walked carefully this time, keeping her steps lightso her paws didn't sink below the wet surface. She heard a splash, and turned to find out what it was. A bird, one wing bent at an odd angle, was struggling through the muddy water towards a tall tree. Pandora wriggled her tail excitedly. This was the bird for her!
On near silent paws she approached the bird, which continued to struggle against the muck. She didn't need to be that quiet, since the bird couldn't really escape, but it was good practice. When she wasn't that far away she bunched her muscles and launched herself at the bird. This time she hit the target right on. The bird barely struggled, but she played with it anyway, throwing it on the ground and chasing it a few feet, then she bit it's uningered wing. It waddled around helplessly. Finally Pandora killed it.
With the bird in her mouth she paraded proudly back to camp. This will really impress the others! She thought gleefully. She entered the camp and circled the pile twice, making sure every wolf saw her prize. Then she set it down with teh other prey. The bird she had caught was horrible broken and messed up compared to the other peices of prey, but she didn't mind. It just showed how much she had enjoyed it.
